Player Development Goals

As a high school coach, I am learning that player development is as important as any on-the-court scheme you can practice. Hence, the old axiom, "I'd rather have tricky players than tricky plays." Below is a copy of what our Player Development Goal sheet looks like.

Player Development goals will allow you to hold your players accountable for their progress or lack thereof. It also holds you, the coach, accountable for constantly thinking about your players' development. Lastly, it aids in conversations with parents. I plan on discussing these with each player and their parents this summer. If a "playing time" conversation comes up with a parent or player, an accountability tool will be helpful in those discussions.
